The second-gen Toyota Sequoia made a name for itself by offering spacious accommodations, lots of utility, and impressive off-road capability for such a large vehicle. Plus, there's Toyota's track record of reliability. It's a formula that has kept the full-size SUV relevant since its 2008 introduction. Of course, 14 years is a long time for one generation, and many were beginning to wonder if the Sequoia would ever get a third generation. Thankfully, we finally have an answer.

While Toyota has yet to release full specifics such as trim details and pricing, we have plenty of information to get excited about. Here are a few of the attributes that initially caught our eye:

  • Design: The 2023 Sequoia is quite the sight, with its assertive front fascia, muscular build, and refined design details. The cavernous interior boasts plush accommodations, lots of room for passenger and cargo capacity, attractive design details, and a wealth of appealing amenities.

  • Hybrid Power and Capability: A prodigious i-FORCE MAX 3.4L twin-turbo V-6 pairs with an electric motor and 10-speed automatic transmission to generate 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. With its body-on-frame design and RWD configuration, the 2023 Sequoia can tow up to 9,000 pounds. Four-wheel drive is also available, as are TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro trim levels for adventure seekers looking to explore beyond the asphalt.

  • Technology: The 2023 Sequoia features the cutting-edge Toyota Audio Multimedia system with Intelligent Assistant voice controls, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and an available 14-inch touchscreen.

  • Toyota Safety Sense 2.5: All 2023 Sequoias include a long list of advanced driver aids like Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing Assist. It even comes standard with typically optional technologies like a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
